Philosophy

Learning through play.

Our early childhood program is designed to facilitate experiential learning. Classrooms are set up to engage our youngest learners’ natural sense of curiosity and to encourage learning through doing. Instruction at this stage is very hands-on while also capitalizing on strong visual and audial inputs. Students are encouraged to observe, to ask questions, to be creative, to respect each other, and to have fun.

Preschool is a time for building foundational skills, adjusting to the structure of school, and learning how to interact positively with peers.Our early childhood students follow a schedule that includes time for structured play, time outside, and naptime, so that students can comfortably make the transition from their life at home to the standard school day. Lastly, building positive relationships with peers is a focus of our early childhood program. We spend a lot of time discussing and modeling how to interact with each other, which ranges from lessons in saying “please” and “thank you” to how to express emotions in a productive way. These skills are reinforced and built upon in our elementary school Character Education program.
